Losing a loved one is never easy, especially for children who are trying to understand what happened. Annie F. Downs, best-selling author and podcast host, has written “Where Did TJ Go?” to help families navigate these difficult conversations. Co-written with her sister, Tatum Green, the book gently guides children through grief while offering a hopeful perspective on eternity.
The story was born from personal experience. Green’s baby, TJ, passed away due to a severe genetic condition, leaving Downs searching for a way to help her young nephew, Sam, understand. That explanation grew into “Where Did TJ Go?,” a book that offers a tender and hopeful perspective on grief.
Illustrated by Jennie Poh, the 32-page book acknowledges sorrow while painting a comforting picture of heaven. It gives children a vision of what it might be like for a loved one to be with God while also creating space for honest emotions. Downs shared, “We are so hopeful that this book will serve families in their grief — giving parents some tools for starting conversations with their kids, and giving kids some vision and hope about eternity.”
Published by Revell, “Where Did TJ Go?” is now available, providing a faith-based resource for families navigating loss. With warmth and understanding, it helps parents and children process loss together.
